How to Estimate Moving Volume
Prepare a practical inventory for a per-cubic-metre quote.

RESIDENTIAL REMOVALS, APARTMENT & HIGH-RISE, OFFICE RELOCATIONS, INTERSTATE MOVES, BACKLOADING, PACKING & UNPACKING. Moving ticker banner.
01 — List furniture and appliances
Start with the largest items in every room: lounges, beds, tables, appliances, cabinets and outdoor furniture.
02 — Count packed cartons
Add a realistic carton count. If packing has not started, estimate by room and revise the list before the quote is finalised.
03 — Measure unusually large items
Measure pieces that are unusually large or difficult to describe and include garage, shed, balcony, plant and outdoor contents.
04 — Flag garage and outdoor goods
Send the organised inventory to HF so the published per-m³ route rate can be considered against the actual move scope.

Questions about moving guide
Have a specific question about your upcoming move? Contact our team during the published business hours.
Is a bedroom count enough to estimate moving volume?
A bedroom count is a starting point rather than an inventory. Include the actual furniture, appliances and packed cartons, plus garage, shed and outdoor items. Measure unusually large pieces so HF can review the volume and scope.
How do I account for items that will be dismantled?
List the item and its dimensions, and explain whether it will travel assembled or dismantled. Confirm who will dismantle it and keep the parts together; do not assume that a flat-packed size applies to an assembled piece.
